Doris Uhlich (A)
Born in Upper Austria in 1977, studied “Modern dance teaching” and attended Vienna Conservatoire from 1997 to 2001. From 2002 to 2009, Uhlich was a member of theatercombinat, and has been doing her own projects since 2006. The 2008 annual of the German ballettanz magazine describes her as a “remarkable up-and-coming choreographer”. She received the bm:ukk dance prize for “SPITZE” the same year. Other works include “insert.eins / eskapade” (prem. imagetanz 2006), “und” (prem. imagetanz 2007), “Plus qu’il n’en faut” (“more than enough”, prem Les Subsistances / Lyon 2009), “Glanz” (prem. brut / Vienna 2009), “Loggia” (prem. Burgtheater / Vienna 2009), “Johannen” (prem. 15th International Schiller Days at Nationaltheater Mannheim 2009), “Rising Swan” (prem. brut / Vienna 2010), “Uhlich” (prem. Wiener Festwochen 2011). brut Wien presented an restrospective of Doris Uhlich’s works in spring 2012 entitled “Alles Uhlich”. The choreographer co-curated the project “ALLREADY” island at Tanzquartier Wien 2008, her grants and residencies include: bm:ukk, Les Subsistances / Lyon, ImPulsTanz / Vienna, brut / Vienna, Tanzquartier Wien, k3 / Tanzplan Hamburg, Austrian Cultural Forum / NYC. She was artist in residence at Festspielhaus St. Pölten 2011/2012 and her teaching assignments include Tanzwerkstatt Wien, ImPulsTanz / Vienna, Academy of Visual Arts / Vienna, Vienna Conservatoire private university, k3 / Tanzplan Hamburg, Festival Herzrasen / Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Tanzhaus Zürich, Festspielhaus St. Pölten.
