Some eight years ago, Boris Hegenbart began a project that picks up and elaborates the formal principles of Dub music. In Dub music the recording studio is an instrument; one and the same piece is varied any number of times by changing individual tracks. Together with Martin Brandlmayr, Felix Kubin, Martin Siewert and Marc Weiser, Hegenbart is putting the project on stage for the first time. The concert hall becomes a studio, the audience witnesses a musical process that usually takes place behind closed doors. While the particular instrumentalist can only follow what is happening through headphones, Boris Hegenbart sits in the audience dissecting its sound and using the separate elements to build a new composition in real time.
