Guided tours of the Camp

The steirischer herbst festival centre is traditionally a meeting-place for artists and the public. The 24/7 Marathon Camp on artistic strategies in politics and political strategies in art takes this aspect to the limit. The tour takes a look behind the scenes of the almost 170-hour programme consisting of lectures, performances, films, discussions and concerts, taking visitors on a tour of the Camp designed by raumlaborberlin. How do the grant holders live in the Camp, what places are there to discover? Together we’ll drop in on a discussion in the White Box, take a look at the selection of films at the Mobile Archive, and browse in the Camp Library. Or we’ll listen to Radio Helsinki at the Bloghaus, marvel at resistant plants in the garden of biological disobedience, attend a performance at the Black Cube, and, finally, get a haircut in the Mobile Salon.

We’ll be happy to organise discussions and tours of the Camp for all age groups and interests.

The question as to the relationship between art and politics is equally a question for curatorial practice: in a communal process, the Prague-based exhibition-makers Zbynek Baladrán and Vit Havránek not only develop the form but also the main topic of “Adaptation” together with the artists. A laboratory rather than an exhibition, “Adaptation” creates a free space within the institutional art system both for the participating artists and for visitors, as the exhibition will always remain a suggestion, an evolving space of art and living in which utopian rules are adapted for the specific situation, time and place.

Particularly during the 24/7 Marathon Camp, we look forward to presenting a wide range of guided tours that will allow you to discuss this extraordinary concept with the artists.
